Yard Truck Driver

Job Description:

Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, the yard truck driver is responsible for the trailer movement in the plant to meet the demand requirements for empty trailer and the shipment of finished products. The yard truck driver will perform weekly inventory of trailer and report any trailer defects.

Additionally, the yard truck driver will perform shipping function to ensure that quality products are loaded accurately and efficiently from production lines.

Duties include safely loading the products on trailers or staging locations, so products arrive in excellent condition to our customers.

Job Duties:

• Conduct weekly inventory of trailers onsite

• Safe movement of trailers for stripping and loading when needed; move trailers from production line to storage yard.

• Inspecting truck and trailer for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance; report all damage to supervisor and or maintenance department

• Perform housekeeping and duties as assigned and keep storage yard, and equipment clean

• Responsible for the movement of loaded trailers from yard to staging area so trucking company can pick up

• Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the yard truck.

• Put hangers, rebar and bearing pads on loads as required

•Keep staging yard free from trash and debris

• Operate equipment (water truck and forklift) to water the yard to keep dust at minimal

• Ensure that all company safety regulations and policies are followed at ALL TIME.

Required skills:

• Able to read a tape measure to the 1/16

• Interpersonal skills, time management, communication skills and confidence.

• Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Required Experience:

• 1 to 2 years’ experience as a yard truck driver.

• CDL a plus.

NOTE: This position also performs all other duties as required by management. During busy periods, Coreslab may require employees to work extended hours. Overtime is considered a condition of employment at the time of need. Refusal to accept it when reasonable notice has been given is cause for disciplinary action including termination.
